Haley Collier started dancing at the age of 3. She continued to dance for the next 17 years. She practiced a variety of genres such as ballet, jazz, tap, lyrical and hip hop. Around the age of 10, she started competing on her studio’s competition team. She was a competitive dancer for 10 years, traveling throughout Michigan to a multitude of competitions and conventions, along with some out of state competitions in Chicago and Florida. She started her dancing journey at the Dance Studio in downtown Romeo. Then around the age of 11, she started attending the Romeo Civic Dance Center. There she was trained by Miss Mary Sherman in the ballet style of Cecchetti. She studied and passed grades 1-5 as a student. At the age of 16, she moved to Artistic Revolution Dance Studio where she continued to compete on their competition dance team. She started teaching recreational classes that same year and has been teaching dance for 9 years now. She also joined the competition team as an instructor and started teaching the company members. She has taught competition routines for the past 4 years. She remained at Artistic Revolution Dance Studio until their final season ended.
For 3 years, Miss Haley co-coached the Romeo JV Dance Team where she helped promote team bonding experiences, fundraising opportunities, held weekly practices and attended multiple dance team competitions, along with attending UDA Dance Camp for those 3 years. She also has her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education which she received from Oakland University. She recently graduated from Oakland in December of 2014. Dance has always been a huge passion for Miss Haley and she cannot wait to start her first year of teaching at Underground Dance Company!
